Service Engineer (In-house & Field) FSR II
About the role
HORIBA Industrial Process & Environmental is seeking an experienced service engineer to support our location in Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will build, install, maintain, and repair HORIBA’s Process Instruments brand of Raman equipment.
Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, and maintains HORIBA’s Process Instruments Raman products at customer sites and performs in-house repairs of equipment.
- Maintains in-house repair facilities, including calibration, repair, and maintenance of Raman spectroscopy analyzers, maintaining test equipment.
- Provides technical assistance to customers and HORIBA’s Process Instruments departments, including parts and technical question research, and assisting with Requests for Quotations.
- Aids in the construction and validation of products, including wiring analyzer boxes, setting up computers, and wiring I/O and AC circuits.
- Conducts FAT (Factory Acceptance tests) with the customer before shipping.
- Prepares Field Service Reports for customer invoicing, warranty, labor, and material charges.
- Creates and modifies electrical schematics and panel layout drawings using AutoCAD.
- Interprets technical specifications and translates them into electrical control designs.
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing to ensure drawing accuracy for production and field use.
Requirements
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated knowledge of electronics repair, ability to troubleshoot to component level, and electronic test equipment is necessary. Basic knowledge of computer programming, Microsoft products, and MATLAB is required. Background knowledge of spectroscopy and its principles is a plus.
Qualifications
- Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally.
- Must be able to drive an automobile and possess a valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Knowledge of analyzers typically found in refineries or chemical plants, theory of operation, set-up, calibration, repair, diagnosing faults, etc.
- Basic knowledge of computer programming, Microsoft products, and MATLAB.
- Background knowledge of spectroscopy and its principles is a plus.
