Position Summary
The Sign Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of commercial signage in the field. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a customer-first mindset. Technicians serve as a key point of contact for clients while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Allied’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform service, maintenance, and repair on various types of commercial signage (illuminated and non-illuminated)
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and structural issues and implement effective solutions
- Troubleshoot sign failures, lighting issues, wiring, and control systems
- Complete field service calls in a timely and professional manner
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding service needs, findings, and recommendations
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and service vehicles are properly maintained and used safely
- Document service work, materials used, and job completion details accurately
- Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
- Collaborate with internal teams (dispatch, production, and project management) as needed
Qualifications
- Experience in sign service, electrical work, or related maintenance/repair field preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in technical environments
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and basic mechanical components
- Ability to operate tools and equipment safely in field conditions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile role
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights if required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications are a plus
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
