Server/ Waiter

About the Role

Server/Waiter responsibilities include greeting and serving members/guests, providing detailed information on menus, and multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties.

Responsibilities

• Take food and drink orders from members/guests accurately and with a positive attitude.
• Engage with members/guests in a friendly manner.
• Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
• Help members/guests select food and beverages by presenting the menu, offering cocktails, suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate wines, and answering food preparation questions.
• Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items.
• Maintain table settings by removing completed courses, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
• Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.
• 2+ years of serving or related experience in a full-service restaurant.
• Current food handler’s card and alcohol service certification as required by federal/state/local law.
• Meet minimum age for preparing and serving alcoholic beverages.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service/hospitality.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• High school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of beer, wine, spirits, and sake preferred.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Ability to work long hours, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to remain on feet the majority of the workday.
