Server - The Sports & Social Club

About the Role

The Sports & Social Club is a relaxed sports bar offering classic pub food and tremendous sports viewing in a comfortable tavern setting. Serving lunch, dinner, and a dynamic nightlife, we also feature bowling, live entertainment, and The Eagle—a fully equipped private party room. Our venue is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including two 100-inch high-definition projectors and digital surround sound, making it the perfect place to watch sports and socialize with friends.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests and take beverage and food orders in a prompt and professional manner.
• Serve cocktails and/or menu items to bar guests; up-sell when taking orders.
• Maintain an energetic, outgoing, and fun demeanor while upholding professionalism at all times.
• Provide outstanding and professional service with a smile to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively and clearly with co-workers and kitchen staff both verbally and using the point-of-sale system.
• Interact with guests clearly, patiently, and with good humor.
• Be well-versed in all concept products and menu items to guide the guest experience and sell food and beverage items.
• Consistently check guests' identification to ensure they meet the minimum age requirements for alcohol consumption.
• Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when service should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive consumption or impaired guests.
• Complete all assigned side work accurately.
• Account for all sales and payments from guests.
• Alert management of any service or safety issues and perform service recovery as needed.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
• Coordinate with bartenders and kitchen staff for ordering and receipt of food and beverages.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of serving experience in a fast-paced food and beverage venue, preferably in a nightclub environment.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods, and garnishes preferred.
• Must meet state legal age requirements.
• Must speak fluent English; other languages are a plus.
• Must be courteous, pleasant, and good-natured.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with guests, staff, and supervisors.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government.
• Reading and writing abilities for taking orders and completing paperwork.
• Basic math skills for handling cash and credit transactions.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Physical Demands

• Handling, carrying, or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., barware, carts, boxes, bottles).
• Ability to stand and move efficiently and safely throughout the facility during each shift.
• Handling food, objects, products, and utensils effectively and safely.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting as needed.
