About the Role

SiFive, the world leader in RISC-V, is seeking an experienced server firmware architect. In this role, you will work on both application processor and microcontroller firmware for RISC-V servers, including TianoCore/EDK-II BIOSes, OpenSBI, and other M-mode firmware environments. You will integrate RISC-V systems, contribute to upstream software and standards communities, and develop platform microcontroller firmware for SiFive reference designs.

Responsibilities include building BMC software environments, debugging complex issues in collaboration with system software and validation teams, and working with hardware architects to improve RISC-V platform and system specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain EDK-II/TianoCore firmware.
  • Write and debug ACPI tables and AML code.
  • Work with ACPI, UEFI, and Devicetree standards.
  • Implement DMTF manageability standards.
  • Develop bare-metal microcontroller code.
  • Debug software on FPGA and emulation platforms.
  • Review and write firmware specifications.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects and engineers to refine RISC-V platform specifications.
  • Develop and integrate BMC software environments for SiFive server designs.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and maintaining EDK-II/TianoCore.
  • Experience writing and debugging ACPI table and AML code.
  • Experience with ACPI, UEFI, and Devicetree.
  • Experience with DMTF manageability standards.
  • Experience developing bare-metal microcontroller code.
  • Experience developing and debugging software on FPGA and emulation platforms.
  • Strong track record of writing clean, maintainable C code.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with the RISC-V architecture.
  • Familiarity with OpenBMC and other BMC software environments.
  • Familiarity with Rust.
  • Familiarity with system power management.
  • Familiarity with PCIe.
  • Experience debugging systems via hardware debuggers.
  • Familiarity with virtualization.
  • Experience working with hardware RTL engineers.
  • Experience working with standards groups.

Pay & Benefits

SiFive offers a market-based pay structure that varies by location. The base pay range is a guideline reflecting the cost of labor in the U.S. geographic market based on the role's location. Pay within these ranges depends on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
