About the Role
Under general direction from the Restaurant Services Supervisor, you will maintain an efficient and profitable restaurant operation by taking guest orders, delivering food, drinks, and merchandise, and serving guests in a pleasant manner. You will accurately execute guest transactions, including entering orders, tabulating bills, and receiving payments according to established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all food and beverage items in accordance with prep sheets and standard recipes.
- Prepare and display all food and merchandise according to ServSafe and other regulatory standards.
- Maintain inventory, supplies, and prepare food based on business volumes and supervisor direction using par levels.
- Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system fully and adhere to cash-handling practices as per Casino-wide and Food and Beverage Policies.
- Count cash, separate charge slips, and input cash tips into tip pouches immediately.
- Clean and maintain dining area tables, shelves, counters, windows, and ensure a sanitary work area at all times.
- Maintain and clean food and display equipment, set up and maintain stations, and prepare food.
- Keep display cases and refrigerators clean and stocked throughout the shift.
- Maintain an organized work area for guest interaction and safety.
- Answer guest questions regarding food venues, beverage service, and Casino-related information.
- Properly bag or package purchases for guests and follow proper order-taking sequence and service standards.
- Greet customers, take food and drink orders, and serve them accurately, promptly, and professionally.
- Remain attentive to customers throughout their dining experience, adhering to or exceeding customer service standards.
- Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations.
- Maintain cleanliness in the restaurant, wait station, and kitchen service area, adhering to company, state, and local health board requirements.
- Complete restocking and cleaning duties by performing opening and closing side work as instructed.
- Control allocated guest checks by following established procedures and document required information during order processing.
- Receive proper payment from guests, ensure accuracy of guest checks and payment methods.
- Attend and participate in all pre-meal and departmental meetings to gain knowledge of products, service, and facility.
- Respond to customer inquiries and comments with timely and knowledgeable information to provide quality service.
- Report maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management promptly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Follow safety and customer service guidelines according to established policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
- Practice safe and responsible alcohol service as trained.
- Promote special offerings and utilize upselling skills to enhance guest experience.
- Demonstrate proper wine and spirits knowledge for fine dining restaurant.
- Maintain proper health, sanitation, and food handling principles.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is required unless waived by Human Resources Management.
- Six months of customer service experience required; food and beverage experience and cash handling experience preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Skills
- Knowledge of restaurant operations and food service principles.
- Knowledge of basic math and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of all menu items, including entrees, side dishes, beverages, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, wine, and desserts.
- Knowledge of proper hand and tray service, menu, and restaurant operations.
- Skill in providing excellent customer service and utilizing computer equipment and POS systems.
- Ability to create a friendly atmosphere and demonstrate excellent customer service.
- Ability to operate a cash register and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- May be exposed to cigarette smoke.
- Work environment is noisy and may involve indoor and outdoor settings with varying conditions.
- Work performed in areas that may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, and dimly lit.
- Must maneuver outside in temperatures exceeding 115°F and as cold as 15°F (exposed to all weather conditions).
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
