About the role
Join us at the only AAA 4-Diamond property in Springfield! We are seeking driven hospitality professionals to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Greet and take food and drink orders from restaurant customers, serving the orders and accommodating special needs/requests.
- Remain attentive to customers throughout their dining experience, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
- Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations.
- Complete restocking and cleaning duties by performing opening and closing sidework as instructed.
- Control allocated guest checks by following established check-use procedures and documenting all required information.
- Receive proper payment from guests and ensure accuracy of guest checks and payment methods to safeguard customer and company interests.
- Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings in person to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, service, and facility.
- Respond to customer inquiries and comments in person and on phone by providing timely and knowledgeable information.
- Present a clean and professional appearance at all times.
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Previous experience in similar positions of 3 months or longer.
Knowledge/Skills
- Basic knowledge of customer service principles, the food server function, and restaurant and kitchen operations.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
- Basic knowledge of cash-handling procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull/pull up to 75% of the time.
- Continuous standing, full range of mobility, and the ability to travel up to 300 feet on a regular basis throughout the shift.
- Moderate hearing to hear customers, supervisors, and communicate with other staff.
- Able to read and understand records and special requests.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent vision to see that product is prepared appropriately.
- Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
Physical Demands
- Physically strenuous - prolonged standing, walking, lifting and carrying throughout the entire shift in an indoor environment.
