Responsibilities

  • Greeting and seating customers.
  • Presenting menus and explaining menu items.
  • Taking accurate food and beverage orders from customers.
  • Communicating special requests and dietary restrictions to the kitchen.
  • Ensuring the prompt and accurate delivery of orders to tables.
  • Refilling beverages and attending to guests' needs throughout the meal.
  • Recommending additional menu items and upselling specials.
  • Presenting bills, processing payments, and providing change or receipts.
  • Clearing and cleaning tables efficiently. Stocking required products. Cleaning and Clearing server area.
  • Resetting tables with clean utensils, napkins, and condiments.
  • Addressing customer concerns and complaints professionally.
  • Collaborating with kitchen staff, hosts/hostesses, and fellow servers for smooth service.
  • Following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Adhering to IHOP's policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive dining experience.
  • A friendly and welcoming demeanor is essential for servers who interact with guests daily.
  • The job may involve standing for extended periods, carrying trays of food, and walking between tables. Physical stamina is important.
  • A good understanding of the restaurant's menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and special promotions.
  • Ability to accurately take orders and communicate them to the kitchen is crucial to ensure customers receive the correct dishes.
  • The ability to multitask effectively when handling multiple tables simultaneously.
  • Collaboration with kitchen staff, host/hostess, and fellow servers is essential for a smooth dining service.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes high-stress environment is important for servers.
  • Paying attention to customer requests, dietary restrictions, and special instructions to ensure orders are accurate.
  • Basic math skills to calculate bills, make change, and process payments.
  • Understanding and adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines is crucial to maintain a safe dining environment.

Compensation

$2.13 per hour
