About the role

The Server plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience for residents, family members, and guests. This position focuses on delivering exceptional service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the dining area is a welcoming space.

Responsibilities

  • Taking accurate food orders and serving meals in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Serving from the left, clearing dishes between courses, and resetting tables to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Engaging with residents in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with their meal and menu selections, and attending to their dining needs.
  • Tracking resident meal attendance and communicating with team members for a safety check on absent residents.
  • Greeting and seating residents promptly, with special attention to integrating new residents.
  • Delivering meals to and retrieving trays from residents' rooms after meal service, as required.
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary dining area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and complying with all food safety handling and service protocols.
  • Cleaning the dining area, setting up and resetting tables, returning dishes to the kitchen, folding napkins, and managing dining supplies.
  • Aiding in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, dress, and behavior.
  • Reporting any safety or equipment issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests.
  • Understanding and complying with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed by Lead, Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or designee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), highly preferred.
  • Exposure to restaurant operations or the ability to learn.
  • Must be 18 years or older or have a proper work permit and authorization documentation.
  • Complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Basic counting skills as required by the position.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, understand, and read English.
  • Ability to operate standard serving equipment and possess the ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, guests, vendors, and the public.
  • Meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and in the community.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must not be an “Excluded Party” as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, any state Medicaid Programs, and any additional federal and state government contract programs.
  • Continually comply with certain laws and regulations that impact the company, including, but not limited to, state licensing regulations, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), Resident Rights as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and any other federal or state laws relating to team members’ professional licenses.
