About the role

Keswick Hall is an 80-room luxury boutique hotel set on 600 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by celebrated landmarks, wineries, breweries, and cideries. The hotel features the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant by Jean-Georges, a luxury spa, and a sports and aquatics center. As a Server, you will sell and serve food and drink in a professional manner, contributing to a fulfilling workplace that values continuous learning and diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mise-en-place, set up, and clear tables in the work area while maintaining high standards of hygiene and orderliness.
  • Provide genuine hospitality, act as a host/hostess, and promote hotel services and products.
  • Take orders, serve (and where applicable, prepare) food and beverages to guests in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Anticipate guest needs, offer suggestions, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Take ownership of guest concerns and requests, acting decisively to resolve issues.
  • Describe menu items with vivid and informative details, including origin, taste, and preparation methods.
  • Compile guest preferences and offer personalized service when opportunities arise.
  • Requisition supplies according to established procedures.
  • Accurately post guest checks, process payments, and adhere to control procedures.
  • Communicate guest orders, including special needs or requests, to the kitchen using the hotel’s point-of-sale system.
  • Verify completed kitchen orders against the guest’s original order.
  • Anticipate and respond urgently to guest concerns and requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1 year of food service experience; a combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
  • Fine dining experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage, with a high degree of product knowledge and relevant technical skills.
  • Ability to stay informed about hotel events.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and observe the entire dining room.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain a strong commitment to service.
  • Exemplary English language skills.
  • TIPS Certification.
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Must be able to navigate staircases, stoop, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
