Work performed
- Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
- Greet the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.
- Market and properly open & serve bottle of wine.
- Record the details of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy. Input the order into the Point of Sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed.
- Abside by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Market and serve upon request any dessert items or specialty coffees and after dinner drinks.
- Present the check to guest promptly and ensure correct payment.
- Attend pre-shift meeting to review/communicate information regarding service, VIG’s, specials, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
Required Experience
- Work efficiently as a team member.
- Complete knowledge of restaurant layout.
- Complete knowledge, skills and abilities of all menus & wine list.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
- Complete knowledge of service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Complete knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
- Able to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
- Able to solicit wine sales, maintain a good overall knowledge of wine.
- Able to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Able to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre-check order and close out the check.
- Observe all restaurant policies regarding uniform, hygiene and grooming.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk during 8 to 10 hour shifts.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and wipe to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to lift and carry large trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room.
