Responsibilities

• Taking food and drink orders
• Serving food and drinks properly
• Ensuring all payments are collected
• Maintaining a positive and caring work environment
• Greeting guests and presenting menus
• Answering questions and conveying special instructions to the kitchen and bar
• Up-selling when appropriate
• Maintaining knowledge of the menu and all specials
• Correcting any problems with tables
• Totaling meal costs and sales taxes
• Delivering and collecting payments
• Cooperating and communicating with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhering to health department rules and customer service guidelines
• Attending to guests efficiently and promptly
• Collecting and returning used dishes and utensils
• Projecting a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service
• Maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe working area
• Supporting other staff to ensure guest satisfaction
• Adhering to safety and quality regulations
• Handling guest complaints and solving problems to the degree possible

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of server and customer service experience, with preference given to those with hospitality industry experience
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, or scheduled form
• Effective communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate with guests and team members
• Knowledge of reservation and POS systems
• Good computer skills and knowledge of operating software, though not required
• The ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented
