About the Role
Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests. Each server’s primary objective is to show guests such a marvelous time that they will want to return again and again.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests within 30 seconds.
- Make all guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
- Introduce yourself and inform guests of specials and menu changes.
- Make genuine recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Answer questions about food, beverages, and restaurant functions and services.
- Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the micros system, and double-check for accuracy.
- Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner (1-minute drink orders).
- Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by the service station assignment.
- Anticipate guests' needs (e.g., napkins, drink refills, appetizer plates).
- Build regular clientele by fostering guest relationships.
- Maintain clean service areas and pre-bus tables.
- Monitor and observe guests' dining experience to ensure satisfaction with food and service.
- Respond promptly and courteously to any guest requests.
- Prepare the final bill, present the check, accept payment, process credit card charges, or make change as needed.
- Check back with guests promptly after dropping the check.
- Assist fellow servers, bus persons, or hostesses with clearing and resetting tables as needed.
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of service experience.
- Ability to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of guests.
- Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a micros system.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 5 hours).
- Ability to safely lift and maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20–25 pounds.
