About the role
A Server in a memory care, assisted living and/or independent living facility is responsible for providing excellent dining service to residents, ensuring a positive and enjoyable meal experience.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record and deliver meal and beverage orders from residents.
- Promptly and courteously deliver food and beverages to residents, ensuring they are presented attractively.
- Provide attentive and friendly service, check on residents' needs during meals, and address any requests or concerns.
- Assist with setting up the dining room before meals, including table settings and condiments, and maintain cleanliness throughout the meal service.
- Clear tables after meals and reset them for the next service.
- Take and deliver room service orders to residents' apartments.
- Be familiar with the menu and able to answer residents' questions about the food and any special dietary needs.
- Interact with residents and their guests in a professional and courteous manner, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Collaborate with other wait staff and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient meal service.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
- Perform other duties assigned appropriate to the position.
Requirements
- Knowledge of high standards of food service sanitation and safety, typically acquired through on-the-job training.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene while working, including frequent hand washing and securing hair away from the face.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to establish effective relationships with department workers and other departments.
- Skill and ability to learn to operate kitchen equipment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
- Current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
- Knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures, as well as related laws, regulations pertaining to hospital and nursing home operation.
- Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
- Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
