About the role

The Server Assistant at Sorelle is responsible for overseeing table maintenance, maintaining the flow of service, and assisting the servers in the dining room. Duties include clearing food & utensils from tables, resetting, bread & water service, monitoring guest satisfaction, and assisting the kitchen in expediting the service process.

Responsibilities

  • Clears food & utensils from tables
  • Maintains the flow of service
  • Assists the servers in the dining room
  • Performs side work applicable to assigned station
  • Welcome all guests and ensure responsive, professional, and gracious service
  • Answer any questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or any other inquiries the guest may have
  • Liaise with server to ensure communication at all times about wants and needs of guests
  • Busses tables
  • Sets tables
  • Stocks stations
  • Performs Bread service
  • Serves and refills water
  • Prepares and serves coffee and tea
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the dining room
  • Stocks and organizes linen
  • Polishes china, glass and silverware
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment all times in the Dining Room and all service stations
  • Understand and perform job duties to the expectations of Sorelle and the restaurant
  • Service, Food, Beverage, and Wine manuals
  • Perform all side work applicable to assigned station
  • Participate in Pre-Shift meetings and learn new menu items
  • Communicate clearly, ensure smooth service operations, and provide quality service
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the restaurant employees and guests
  • Supportive Functions
    • Perform set up duties as requested to include side stations, storage areas and food staging area
    • General cleaning tasks utilizing cleaning to adhere to health and safety standards
    • Fold napkins for meal periods to maintain an adequate supply
    • Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests
    • Operate as a member of the team, helping others and requesting help as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of fine dining service experience
  • Knowledge of service and food and beverage, and thorough knowledge of fine dining, service procedures and functions
  • Cleanliness, organization and the ability to work well in a team situation are crucial to this position
  • Food and wine knowledge a plus
  • Must be minimum age to serve alcohol
  • High school or equivalent education required
  • Strong dedication toward learning, and motivation to progress in a fine dining environment
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register POS system and Microsoft based computer systems
