Sepsis Quality Coordinator

About the role

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Sepsis Quality Coordinator to work alongside our Medical Affairs Department. Under the supervision of the Director of MHN Quality and Patient Safety, the incumbent leads and coordinates evidence-based activities to support improved care for the sepsis patient population through early identification and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform informal chart abstraction and report quality performance indicators.
• Evaluate and monitor the quality of patient care, ensuring compliance with best practices for all sepsis-related quality measures.
• Assist in training staff in new or improved clinical practices.
• Provide direction and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital’s overall quality improvement program.
• Supervise, facilitate, develop, coordinate, and evaluate clinical and educational strategies for patients admitted with sepsis.
• Ensure high-quality, cost-efficient care aligned with the organization’s vision for identifying and managing severe sepsis and septic shock.
• Manage all aspects of sepsis care and collaborate with leadership on bedside care initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with sepsis standards required by accrediting agencies.
• Monitor and implement changes to positively impact sepsis initiative performance by staff and licensed practitioners.
• Collaborate with clinical documentation specialists to optimize coding through appropriate documentation.
