About the role

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (level 4) to join its team in Roy, UT; Colorado Springs, CO; or Manhattan Beach, CA, supporting the Sentinel program. This role focuses on systems engineering technical baseline maturation to drive successful development and sell-off of systems within the Digital Ecosystem segment. The selected engineer will lead a small team or collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team under the guidance of Lead Systems Engineers, program leadership, and customer representatives to pursue incremental capability insertions across the Digital Ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has experience with model-based engineering, exposure to software-centric systems and digital engineering, and experience with complex systems lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering technical baseline maturation for the Digital Ecosystem segment.
  • Drive successful development and sell-off of systems.
  • Lead a small team or work within a cross-disciplinary team to pursue incremental capability insertions.
  • Collaborate with Lead Systems Engineers, program leadership, and customer representatives.

Requirements

  • 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; 6 years with a master’s degree; 4 years with a PhD.
  • U.S. citizenship with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance (investigation completed within the last 6 years).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience throughout the program lifecycle.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based environments, high-performance computing, and virtualized environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with software or IT-centric systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and partnership/collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in program adoption of digital engineering concepts, methods, and processes.
  • Experience with Project Lifecycle Management, manufacturing, and sustainment.

Schedule

This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Pay

Primary salary range: $122,800.00 – $203,600.00. The final offer considers scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
