About the role
The Sentinel program is seeking a Human Factors Principal Engineer (T03 level) to support activities including design for maintainability, human machine interface development, requirements management, operator workstation design, CONOPS support, task analyses, verification & validation, analyses and collaboration to facilitate equipment selection, design and arrangement; user group collaboration and working groups.
Responsibilities
- Author/support the development of requirements that are compliant with Human Factors best practices and specified sections of MIL-STD-1472G
- Human Factors Analyses (including, but not limited to: task analyses, predictive workload analyses, interface prototyping and analysis, and design-for-maintainability (DFM) analysis)
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Conduct computer-based (NX) and empirical accessibility assessments
- Author/support the program documentation of the HFE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Operator, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Maintainer, etc.)
- Design and develop workstation geometry and layout controls and displays to accommodate the full anthropometric range of expected users
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Demonstrated experience applying HFE principles to programs
- Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to segment, program and customer community
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Factors, User Experience, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, or at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; OR at least 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; OR 1 year with a PhD degree
Skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Familiarity with Human Factors modeling in NX/Jack, IMPRINT
