Sentinel- Engineer/Principal Mechanical Engineer (Secret Clearance) -17004
About the role
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Sentinel program. The applicant will be responsible for designing, developing, producing, and deploying launch equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. This position can be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or a Principal Engineer (level 3) depending on candidate experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment
- Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center
- Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
- Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance
- Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures
- Prepare and present reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field
- Minimum of 2 years (level 2) or 5 years (level 3) of relevant experience
- U.S. citizen
- Active or current Secret clearance at time of application
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems (mechanisms preferred)
- Familiar with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content
- Experience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release process
- Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
- Experience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles
- Experience with ICBMs or launch equipment systems
- Experience performing dynamic and static analysis (NX Motion or ANSYS preferred)
- Proficiency in DOORS, CAMEO, Jira and Confluence

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
