About the role
The Senior Workforce Development Trainer supports employee growth by delivering training programs and workshops for both field and office staff. The role involves monitoring training effectiveness through performance outcomes and reporting to a manager.
Responsibilities
- Organizes and attends local job and career fairs.
- Captures participant feedback on training classes via survey.
- Communicate upcoming schedule & direction with corporate Learning & Development Team.
- Promote culture, core values, mission statement, and vision.
- Pursue & coordinate grant & training reimbursement opportunities.
- Pursue & coordinate continued education credits (for class participants) as available per location.
- Track & report training metrics as identified by corporate training or regional leadership.
- Deliver hands-on training modules for various classifications.
- Facilitate basic skills training for new industry entrants, focusing on safe and proper tool/material use.
- Facilitate onboarding sessions focused on culture, safety, and skills.
- Administer written and hands-on skills assessments.
- Manage DocuSign paperwork for new hires.
- Design onboarding program content and duration based on local needs assessments.
- Coordinate onboarding materials with Corporate Learning & Development and Safety departments.
- Develop new training content as needed.
- Participate in peer reviews of newly developed or extensively modified content.
- Participate in scheduled Workforce Development meetings.
- Assign (recommend) LinkedIn Learning paths & content to field employees.
- Counsel & coach struggling field employees.
- Connect field & office teams through joint training opportunities.
- May provide guidance to WFD Trainers and Associate WFD Trainers.
- Promote a positive community presence.
Requirements
- Proven work experience in a training or similar role is preferred.
- Understanding of electrical construction and contracting.
- Ability to speak comfortably in front of a classroom audience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to handle confidential information.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze business and training needs for improvement.
- Experience in developing and implementing training programs is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Qualifications
- Generally, requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience.
- Requires 4-6 years of related experience.
- Union experience is preferred.
- Instructional Design certification is preferred.
- Presentation skills are preferred.
