Responsibilities

  • Technical: Advanced understanding of scientific principles and understanding of various implementation techniques as related to area of focus.
  • Manage data collection and analysis processes.
  • Maintain data, specimens, and samples.
  • Organize and lead field work.
  • Develop report conclusions and manage all aspects of deliverables.
  • Edit reports and provide feedback to writers.
  • Submit reports and follow up with clients or reviewing agencies.
  • In depth understanding of project needs to ensure reports meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure team follows company and safety standards in the field.
  • Takes a lead role in coordinating with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Proficient in communicating technical concepts, both verbally and in writing.
  • Actively seeks the latest technologies; applies scientific principles for creative solutions for clients.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
  • Project Management: Develop project scope of work, monitor scope creep, and price additional services for review/approval by client.
  • In depth understanding of project needs to ensure scope of work meets client and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate scope and schedule changes to clients.
  • Manage project schedules, provide updates, and interim reports.
  • Supervise subcontractors.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed at expected quality and within budget and schedule.
  • Prepare status updates on projects via reports/emails and communicate to leadership and internal clients.
  • People Management: Oversees Scientists and Technicians and conducts performance assessments.
  • Assists with invoicing and responsible for project setup in management system.
  • Approves timesheets.
  • Trains newly hired staff and assists with the development of staff through day-to-day interactions.
  • Participates in formal mentorship programs.
  • Business Development: Leverages professional network to engage with industry professionals on thought leadership.
  • Develops detailed proposals and cost estimates in support of the bidding process, working collaboratively with others.
  • Provides solutions and advice to clients for complex projects requiring in-depth technical and consulting knowledge.
  • Develops new client business.
  • Financial Acumen: Monitors timekeeping and invoice scheduling.
  • Aids in collection of delinquent accounts as needed.
  • Follows up with subcontractors as needed.
  • Aids management in monitoring project profitability.
  • Prepares and tracks budgets.
  • Client Service: Builds relationship capital with clients through project work and networking events.
  • Qualifications

    • 12+ years of experience in a related field or role or a combination of education and professional experience.
    • Bachelor’s (master’s degree preferred) in a science related field.
    • USFWS and State Wildlife/Plant Permits; discipline specific certifications preferred including PWS and QHP-IT or other equivalent state certification preferred.
    • Proficiency with a variety of software including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, Adobe, Ajera, ArcGIS.
    • Valid Driver's License.
