About the role
MoneyLion is a leader in financial technology, offering personalized products and content to nearly 500 million users worldwide. They are seeking a deeply experienced front-end engineer to join their team. This role involves making sound engineering decisions, collaborating with various teams, and building customer experiences that are fast, clear, resilient, and measurable.
Key Responsibilities
Take Ownership: Maintain a high bar for quality through code reviews, testing, and production readiness.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to shape solutions and deliver reliably.
Architect for Change: Design and build scalable front-end systems that adapt to evolving product needs.
Improve Performance & Quality: Strengthen performance, accessibility, maintainability, and consistency across the codebase.
Support Experimentation: Build A/B tests, event tracking, and measurement capabilities that support rapid learning.
Raise Quality Through Testing: Build and maintain automated test coverage across unit, component, integration, and end-to-end layers.
About You
Strong expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern front-end architecture.
Comfortable working with APIs and building reliable customer-facing applications.
Proven success building scalable, component-driven user interfaces.
Strong grasp of performance, accessibility, responsive design, and maintainable front-end systems.
Skilled at partnering with Product, Design, and backend engineers to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and modern development workflows.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
4+ years in software engineering, with a track record of building and shipping production applications.
Must Have Skills
Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, including advanced typing strategies, component architecture, and reusable design patterns.
Strong understanding of how the browser works, including rendering, event handling, networking, and performance characteristics.
Experience building and scaling component-driven applications, including state management, data flow, and separation of concerns.
Strong grasp of performance optimization techniques, including code splitting, lazy loading, memoization, and runtime efficiency.
Experience designing and integrating with APIs, including handling async data, caching strategies, and error states across the UI.
Experience implementing testing strategies across unit, component, integration, and end-to-end layers.
Experience integrating and working with headless and enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Contentful, Adobe Experience Manager, WordPress), including content modeling, delivery APIs, and editor-friendly workflows.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring of user-facing applications, including performance tracking and debugging in production.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern frontend build and deployment workflows.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a bias toward clear, maintainable, and scalable frontend systems.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with React Native.
Experience working on high-scale, consumer-facing applications.
Familiarity with experimentation platforms, A/B testing, and event instrumentation.
Hands-on experience with tools like Cursor (or similar AI-powered IDEs) and modern AI coding models.
Practical understanding of where AI is strong vs. where it falls short, paired with sound discernment in its application.
Ability to use AI agents to quickly project multiple approaches, compare tradeoffs, and converge on the best solution without shipping "AI-shaped" code.

Location: New York, NY (Onsite 3 days per week)
The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $135,200 and $178,880. Base salary is one component of Gen's total compensation package, which includes 401(k) match, health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.
