The City of Detroit’s Department of Innovation and Technology is seeking an experienced Web Developer III to design, develop, and maintain engaging, accessible, and high-performing digital experiences for City employees, community partners, and the public.This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise and creativity to improve how residents access information and interact with City services. You’ll play a key role in managing the City’s websites, developing web applications, enhancing user experiences, and implementing innovative technology solutions that support the City’s mission. What You’ll DoDesign, develop, and maintain the City’s websites and web applications.Create intuitive, user-centered web experiences for internal and external audiences.Develop and maintain front-end code that meets industry standards and works across browsers, devices, and operating systems.Test, troubleshoot, and optimize website functionality, performance, scalability, and accessibility.Develop web content, page layouts, site design guidelines, and interactive digital visualizations.Integrate web technologies with enterprise applications, databases, and other systems.Monitor website analytics and performance to identify opportunities for improvement.Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to implement solutions that streamline processes and improve service delivery.Stay current with emerging web technologies, programming practices, and industry standards. What You’ll BringEducation: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in computer science, graphic arts, web design, programming, or a related field.Experience: At least five (5) years of front-end development experience.Technical Expertise: Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining websites and web applications.Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot technical issues, optimize performance, and deliver effective solutions with minimal supervision.Innovation: A commitment to creating user-friendly digital experiences and leveraging technology to improve public services.
