About the role
A Wealth Strategist at Northern Trust is a key business development sales role aimed at supporting the firm's growth. This role involves cultivating new relationships with individuals, families, non-profit institutions, and other entities. The Wealth Strategist oversees new client development, solutions sales strategy, and the execution of a goals-driven approach to wealth management planning. They work with ultra-high net worth (UHNW) individuals, families, and businesses to establish new investment management relationships.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate new investment management relationships in the UHNW client space
- Work with prospective and current clients to develop new business
- Identify and engage with Centers of Influence (COIs) for UHNW individuals and families, including attorneys, estate planning professionals, and CPAs
- Profile a client's financial landscape and needs to determine how best to advise and deliver solutions across Northern Trust's capabilities
- Understand and communicate Northern Trust's fiduciary capabilities and services, including fee structures and documentation
- Manage the transition of ongoing client contact and account management to the appropriate teams within Northern Trust
- Engage as a leader for local civic and philanthropic organizations
Requirements
- 10+ years of sales and relationship management experience, preferably in wealth management
- Knowledge of fiduciary capabilities and services, including personal trusts, living trusts, wills, investment management, custody, financial consulting, estate and tax planning
- Series 7 and 63 licenses are required. Additional professional designations such as CFP, CFTA, CFA, CIMA are strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and sales skills to connect individual client asset situations to Northern Trust's specific capabilities and services
- Effective communication skills to understand clients' needs and respond with appropriate solutions
- Ability to collaborate and work collaboratively across all of Northern Trust to grow the business

Pay
$130,530 - 228,380 USD
