Brief Description

LJB Inc. is a national engineering firm with more than 50 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, geospatial, safety, health, and environmental services. LJB Inc. is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer in Dayton, Ohio to help grow their Water Resources Practice in Ohio.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the planning and design of a wide range of water resources and civil infrastructure projects, including:
    • Stream and wetland restoration
    • Dam remediation
    • FEMA floodplain analyses and permitting (No-Rise, LOMR, CLOMR)
    • Culvert and bridge replacement
    • Stormwater planning and design
    • Watershed studies and asset management
    • Site/civil development and public utility design
    • Programmatic engineering support
  • Manage and deliver engineering projects from concept development through final design, permitting, and construction support.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians, to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel occasionally to client sites across the U.S. as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resources.
  • PE license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent software.
  • Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Water Resources.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and applications.
  • Experience with ODOT standards and hydraulic-related pre-qualifications.
  • Demonstrated client/project management experience.

Employment Details

Salary Range: $91,000 – $140,000 base salary, based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.
