Responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic Vision: Operate at the intersection of product and business strategy. Shape the company's long-term direction by translating market opportunities into product bets and articulating a multi-year vision aligned with the board, company, and engineering team.
  • Develop Deep Customer & Market Intuition: Build instincts through direct customer exposure, qualitative and quantitative research, sales and marketing insights, and data analysis. Understand not just what customers ask for, but what they actually need, driving differentiated product decisions.
  • Lead Cross-Functionally: Align Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, and Finance around a shared product narrative. Navigate organizational complexity and competing priorities without creating silos.
  • Drive Data-Driven Decision Making: Set clear success criteria before building, run rigorous A/B tests, and use data to validate or kill features objectively.
  • Scale Products Effectively: Demonstrate a track record of bringing products from early traction to significant scale, navigating challenges from 0→1 (product-market fit) and 1→N (scaling go-to-market, platform, and architecture).
  • Develop an exceptional understanding of customer needs through direct engagement, research, and analytics to make differentiated product decisions.
  • Establish clear success metrics, leverage experimentation, and make evidence-based decisions, including stopping investments in features that do not deliver impact.
  • Lead products through early-stage product-market fit and large-scale growth, balancing customer needs, platform evolution, technical architecture, and commercial objectives.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional product talent while creating clear career pathways. Design effective team structures and foster a high-performance culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Articulate product strategy, investment priorities, and trade-offs to the CEO, Board, and executive stakeholders, translating complex decisions into strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Earn credibility with Engineering through a strong understanding of technology, architectural constraints, and modern product development practices. Evaluate build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions confidently.

Qualifications

We look for the following SMART values in everyone we hire at Smart Communications:

  • Speak Openly: Positive, creative, helpful, and kind. Listen and provide constructive feedback. Encourage each other to be the best and focus on solutions, not complaints.
  • Make a Difference: Prioritize impactful work, celebrate success, and hold yourself accountable. Take initiative rather than sitting on the sidelines.
  • Agile & Flexible: Evolve, improve, and grow by challenging the status quo. Ask "why?" to remove complexity and overcome hurdles.
  • Results-Focused: Get stuff done efficiently, work at pace, and pay attention to detail. Focus on productivity and solutions, not just being busy.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate, trust, and support each other to deliver results. Ensure no one feels disengaged—we’re in this together.
