Senior Vice President, Counsel - Digital Assets

Join us and be part of something extraordinary. We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Counsel - Digital Assets to join our Data, Intellectual Property, Technology & Innovation Legal team. This role is located in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical legal advice on the ideation, development and execution of new products for BNY’s Digital Assets team and the Product & Innovation Hub.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance and other Legal colleagues to define and advise on future-state digital asset services and initiatives.
- Draft and negotiate technology-related agreements with clients and partners.
- Participate in legal workstreams related to product development governance.
- Keep abreast of industry, legal, and regulatory changes related to digital assets and make timely and incisive updates to a diverse audience.
- Track and report on legal issues and project developments in a concise and impactful manner to stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Participate in industry associations related to digital assets and other emerging technologies.
- Advise on internal and external materials related to digital assets and other innovative products, including marketing materials, regulatory submissions and press releases.
Requirements
- A J.D. from a top-tier law school.
- Six+ years’ experience as a licensed attorney with at least 2 years’ experience in digital assets and related issues.
- Both in-house and law firm experience preferred.
- Experience advising a financial institution on the legal and regulatory environment related to digital assets, with particular focus on the United States.
- Some experience with MiCA or other foreign regulatory frameworks preferred.
- Understanding of the financial services, banking, and payments systems.
- Working knowledge of blockchain technology.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and drive them forward in a collaborative manner.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.
- A candidate who is curious, engaged, articulate, and works collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.
