About the role

This is a practical engineering role that emphasizes problem solving, test execution, and technical analysis over hardware design. You will work closely with firmware, hardware, and systems engineering teams to build and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments, analyze system behavior, and determine whether observed issues stem from hardware, firmware, or system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test setups for electrical systems.
  • Execute validation and verification test plans against product specifications and system requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret electrical measurements from laboratory test equipment.
  • Use oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, data acquisition systems, and other laboratory instruments to evaluate system performance.
  • Review engineering specifications and translate requirements into repeatable validation procedures.
  • Investigate unexpected system behavior and determine whether root causes originate from:
    • Firmware
    • Hardware
    • System specifications or requirements
  • Document test procedures, results, defects, and validation reports.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and systems engineers to resolve issues uncovered during testing.
  • Support compliance and standards-based testing where applicable.
  • Assist with automation of validation workflows using scripting tools when appropriate.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required.

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience working with electrical systems.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Digital multimeters
    • Power supplies
    • Function generators
    • Data acquisition equipment
  • Ability to interpret electrical measurements and troubleshoot system behavior.
  • Comfortable reading and understanding engineering specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing or similar validation environments.
  • Familiarity with grid-connected power systems, power electronics, or energy systems.
  • Exposure to compliance or certification standards such as IEEE 1547 or similar electrical standards.
  • Basic Python scripting for test automation.
  • Experience working with automated test frameworks.
  • Familiarity with firmware validation or embedded systems.
