Product & Systems Overview

EDS is a tech-enabled services company whose software directly impacts how law enforcement agencies manage off-duty programs, officer payments, and event security hiring. Design here is integral, not just cosmetic, affecting operational efficiency.

What You'll Design

  • The officer experience across web portals and mobile apps, focusing on scheduling, job pickup, payment, and availability
  • The customer and internal portal experience, including job posting, officer coordination, and billing
  • Complex workflows such as multi-party approval chains, scheduling logic, and service-backed integrations
  • The EDS design system, encompassing components, patterns, and comprehensive documentation

What You'll Build in Year One

  • A thorough audit of the current experience across all product surfaces, with prioritized findings
  • A fully developed design system, grounded in tokens, documented components, and accessible to PMs and engineers
  • End-to-end flows for the consolidated portal experience and a unified UX
  • UX for an instant pay flow, a critical feature that directly influences Officer trust

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of UX design experience, with a diverse portfolio that includes apps, web portals, and internal/operational tools
  • Strong interaction and visual design fundamentals, capable of moving from concept to high-fidelity without hand-offs
  • Experience conducting user research, including study design, finding translation, and product decision-making
  • Background in designing complex workflows, including multi-step processes, service integrations, and data-dense interfaces
  • Technical fluency to design realistically within back-end and API constraints
  • Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system
  • Effective communication skills, bridging users, product managers, and engineers

Candidates Residing in North Carolina or Texas are Preferred

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience as a solo or lead designer at a product company, demonstrating the ability to own the entire problem
  • Use of generative AI as a design accelerator, enhancing rapid prototyping, concept iteration, and research synthesis
  • Background in B2B operational tools, workforce management, field services, or public safety
  • Familiarity with law enforcement culture or agency operations
  • Experience designing payment or financial flows

Why EDS?

You won't be a mere executor of someone else's vision. You will shape the design practice at a company with real users, operational complexity, and a robust product roadmap. Your design system will be daily practice, impacting officer payments and agency operations. This is a high-ownership role at a growing company where design has a seat at the table.
