Responsibilities
- Define and drive the design direction for our internal and B2B backend tools, from information architecture and system design through to polished, production-ready interfaces.
- Audit and organize our existing backend toolset - mapping how features, workflows, and systems relate to one another and identifying where consolidation, clarity, or restructuring will have the most impact.
- Leverage AI tools and prototyping to build and validate ideas directly - you're comfortable getting your hands into production, not just handing off specs.
- Lead features end-to-end: partnering with product managers and engineers to gather requirements, frame problems, iterate on solutions, and deliver organized, well-documented work.
- Hold a high bar for the UX of every tool you touch, with each one feeling considered and purposeful, not just functional.
- Own the full arc from strategy to pixels, exercising your own judgment to move work from concept to implementation.
- Present and defend design decisions clearly to stakeholders, grounding your rationale in user needs and business impact.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to design interfaces that make complex, high-density information legible and actionable.
- Mentor other designers on the team, offering direct and constructive feedback that raises the quality of the work.
- Foster a culture of honest, empathetic communication and high craft.
Requirements
- 7+ years of technical product design experience in software, with a track record of shaping complex products, ideally tools, ops, or B2B applications.
- Deep UX and IA chops: you can untangle messy workflows, rethink information hierarchies, and design systems that scale.
- Strong product thinking: you understand the "why" behind the work and can hold your own in conversations about strategy, tradeoffs, and prioritization.
- Experience shipping work with AI tools; you treat them as a creative and technical accelerator, not a novelty.
- Experience maintaining or contributing to a design system used across multiple product surfaces.
- A portfolio that shows evidence of systems thinking, end-to-end ownership, and work built in fast-paced product organizations.
- High proficiency in Figma and a habit of pulling in new tools and technologies when they make the work better.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills: you can walk a room through a complex system and make it legible.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in design, HCI, or a related field.
