Senior Underwriter - Restaurants

About the role

Distinguished is a leading national insurance Program Manager offering specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents. We partner with a select group of highly rated insurance companies to provide exclusive programs to our national network of 4,000 agencies and brokerages. The Senior Underwriter works with an energetic, passionate team committed to growth and building a best-in-class system.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite restaurants risks for primary package and excess/umbrella lines of business.
• Analyze and evaluate applicants to ensure proper risk selection.
• Negotiate pricing and coverage with brokers.
• Rate and quote new and renewal business while adhering to underwriting guidelines and rating rules with proper file documentation.
• Underwrite and document all service requests for in-force policies within authority.
• Communicate with brokers to obtain information needed to underwriter risks, respond to questions and address issues.
• Gather competitor information and marketing intelligence to identify opportunities for improvements to products and pricing.
• Participate in other company projects and new initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Commercial Package (ISO-based) underwriting experience.
• Prior experience underwriting restaurants required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ISO-based rating.
• Property and Casualty Insurance license.
• Analytical and quantitative skills.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and possesses strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• $90,000 - $120,000 base salary plus bonus.
