Senior Underwriter, Middle Market Multi-Industry
Responsibilities
- Focuses on building relationships with key external parties (brokers, agents).
- Manages portfolio of brokers/agents in parts of GRS where complexity and line size differ little between policies.
- Develops underwriting skills and builds relationships with internal stakeholders and partners (e.g., UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America, etc.).
- Continues building underwriting expertise using both internal and external resources.
- Executes - and may contribute to - marketing plans.
- Contributes to team projects (e.g., process / tool improvement).
- May contribute to the analysis of team’s portfolio.
- May manage the quality of data within relevant systems for the book of business that the team is responsible for underwriting.
- May provide on-the-job support for new hires.
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
- At least 1 year, typically 1.5 or more years, of underwriting experience and/or other related business experience.
- Actively pursuing professional insurance designations.
- Demonstrated analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within defined authority.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to successfully develop and maintain productive producer/customer relationships.
