Senior Underwriter – Middle Market, General Industries
About the role
Our Middle Markets business focuses on mid-sized customers in the US Commercial P&C market. In this role you will be responsible for underwriting our Middle Market products and establishing broker and client relationships in the Central Zone to support growing this business.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite both new and renewal business for assigned territory.
- Execute your own annual desk-level underwriting plan.
- Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to Chief Underwriting Officer and Referral Resources.
- Ensure high quality service standards and compliance with all internal audit guidelines.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Cross-sell across Middle Market business unit to maximize deployment of AXA XL’s capital.
- Travel within territory for broker, client, and internal meetings.
- Develop, maintain and service broker relationships within the distribution model.
- Coordinate with brokers to determine their marketing and education needs supported by AXA XL Middle Market.
- Act as a representative of the company and our agents by attending internal/external company functions, agent sponsored and industry events.
You will report to the Central Zone Underwriting Manager, General Industries.
Requirements
- Outstanding knowledge of the US insurance industry, combined with in-depth technical knowledge of P&C product offerings and effective broker relationships.
- Middle Market insurance experience (e.g., underwriting, claims, or insurance related business development experience).
- Consistently pursue opportunities to differentiate AXA XL in the industry through our offerings and how we conduct business.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain outstanding insured and broker contacts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service focus.
- Collaborative team player who provides creative solutions and ideas for resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; professional designations CPCU, ARM a plus.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 119,500-199,100. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location.
