About the role
AECOM is seeking two experienced on-site Senior Tunnel Construction Managers to lead the delivery of large and complex underground water infrastructure projects in the New York Metro area. These are high-profile roles, responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver landmark projects that will shape the future of New York City infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all construction management activities for large-scale tunnel projects with multiple contract packages.
- Oversee commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.
- Ensure project compliance with all contract requirements, regulatory requirements, and Consent Decree milestones.
- Oversee project controls, including schedule management, cost control, change management, and progress reporting.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the project owner, designers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on constructability, sequencing, and risk mitigation for complex tunneling and urban infrastructure.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a diverse construction management team.
- Champion a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
- BA/BS + 12 years of relevant or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certification.
- Experience with New York City DEP projects and local regulatory environment.
- History of successful delivery of Consent Decree or federally mandated projects.
- Advanced knowledge of risk management, constructability reviews, and dispute resolution.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in team leadership.
- 20 years of progressive experience in construction management of large-scale tunneling and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction management of water tunnels (TBM & SEM), pump stations, shafts, diversion structures, and urban infrastructure.
- Proven track record delivering projects more than $500 million; experience with projects over $1 billion preferred.
- Proficiency in contract administration, schedule management, and cost control.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certificate; additional HSE, QA/QC, and project management certifications are a plus.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $190000 to $345000 per year.
