Senior Trial Attorney, Workers' Compensation - Connecticut

Role & Responsibilities

• Independently manage a full docket of insurance defense litigation matters from initial case strategy through resolution or trial.
• Draft and handle pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Represent insured clients in state court proceedings, including hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Evaluate liability and damages exposure, advising internal claims partners on litigation strategy and case resolution.
• Negotiate settlements and mediations where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate case documentation within a paperless litigation management system and collaborate closely with claims professionals.

Required Experience

• 5-15+ years of workers' compensation insurance defense.
• Significant trial experience before judges or juries.
• Experience partnering with insurance claims teams and managing a high-volume litigation caseload.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Knowledge of state civil procedure and local court rules.

Pay

Salary: $130,000-$210,000 base + target bonus + wider benefits

Schedule

Work Mode: Hybrid (2 days in / 3 days remote)

Greater Hartford Area, Connecticut

Travel

Required throughout Hartford Area and occasionally to wider Connecticut.
