About the role
The City of Springfield is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to enhance the city's hometown feel, focus on livability and environmental quality, improve infrastructure, foster an inclusive environment, and comply with state rules for climate-friendly and equitable communities.Responsibilities
- Identify, seek funding for, and plan capital transportation projects
- Represent Springfield in regional transportation funding and coordination discussions at the Metropolitan Planning Organization
- Expand multi-modal opportunities, including staffing the City’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee
- Designate climate-friendly areas, shape parking management strategies, and manage the update of the Transportation System Plan
- Build relationships across agencies to support regional collaboration
- Manage projects, be well-organized and efficient, and bring shared visions to reality
Requirements
- Knowledgeable in transportation planning and compliance with state rules for climate-friendly and equitable communities
- Experience in project management and organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with various stakeholders
- Strong communication and analytical skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience with multi-modal transportation planning and coordination
- Knowledge of state rules for climate-friendly and equitable communities
