Senior Transportation Manager

Reports to: Director of Transportation | FLSA Status: Exempt

Pre-employment screening: Background check, education verification, references, drug test (marijuana/THC, cocaine metabolites, phencyclidine, amphetamines, opiate metabolites).

After a 4–6 week in-person training and onsite period, this role is eligible for remote work within Wisconsin. Occasional onsite visits may be requested or required with advance notice.

About the role

This position oversees 4imprint’s domestic, Canadian, and other international transportation and logistics functions. The Senior Transportation Manager is responsible for strategic planning, coordinating logistics, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team of transportation coordinators to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions while providing certainty in every delivery. The role partners with other supply chain areas to drive broader operational alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute transportation and logistics strategy aligned with competitive business goals.
  • Support the customer service team to ensure a seamless experience from quoting through final delivery.
  • Optimize supply chain strategies between internal processes and external vendors/service providers.
  • Maximize use of IT tools and technologies to shift from reactive to proactive operations.
  • Plan and execute scalable initiatives to support business growth, including productivity improvements, efficient routing, and cost-conscious culture.
  • Ensure compliance with customs and other regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate third-party carriers and service providers through meetings and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with product vendors on freight topics to enhance transportation and logistics operations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, supply chain, customer service) to ensure smooth transportation processes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the transportation team via structured one-on-ones, performance management, goal setting, and career development.
  • Establish team priorities, monitor workload distribution, and ensure coverage for daily operations and customer commitments.
  • Oversee daily domestic and international transportation (LTL, small parcel, cross-border Canada shipments) for service reliability, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to drive strategic initiatives and improve operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of transportation and logistics experience, including leadership of direct reports.
  • Experience with high-volume parcel distribution, direct ship operations, and various fulfillment methods.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills, including contract negotiations with carriers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Proven leadership in fostering a high-performance culture and developing team talent.
  • Proficiency in databases, spreadsheets, and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining transportation management systems, including third-party software.
  • Financial skills to develop and analyze budgets.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and customs regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) and manage multiple tasks in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Occasional travel to vendor and service provider locations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
  • Process analysis and streamlining skills to drive efficient, customer-focused outcomes.

Work Environment

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) and enter data.
  • Work may be performed remotely (WI only) or at 4imprint’s Oshkosh or Appleton, Wisconsin offices after onboarding and training.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (H-1B or other visas not offered).
