Senior Transportation Engineer (JC-521708)

Job Description and Duties

The Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans is responsible for overseeing transportation projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. Duties include:

• Overseeing the design and implementation of transportation projects
• Providing technical guidance and support to project teams
• Ensuring compliance with state and federal transportation laws and regulations
• Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement transportation solutions
• Preparing reports and presentations to communicate project progress and findings

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must possess a Professional Engineer License and a valid driver’s license. Additional requirements include:

• Completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering
• Knowledge of state and federal transportation laws and regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Special Requirements

A statement of qualifications (SOQ) is required. The SOQ should highlight your knowledge, skills, and experience in transportation engineering.

Working Conditions

The Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans works in a climate-controlled office setting. However, they may also be required to travel and work outdoors, exposing themselves to various environmental conditions.
