Senior Transportation Engineer (JC-521708)
Job Description and Duties
The Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans is responsible for overseeing transportation projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. Duties include:
- Overseeing the design and implementation of transportation projects
- Providing technical guidance and support to project teams
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal transportation laws and regulations
- Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement transportation solutions
- Preparing reports and presentations to communicate project progress and findings
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you must possess a Professional Engineer License and a valid driver’s license. Additional requirements include:
- Completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering
- Knowledge of state and federal transportation laws and regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Special Requirements
A statement of qualifications (SOQ) is required. The SOQ should highlight your knowledge, skills, and experience in transportation engineering.
Working Conditions
The Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans works in a climate-controlled office setting. However, they may also be required to travel and work outdoors, exposing themselves to various environmental conditions.
