Senior Transmission Line Project Manager
About the Role
WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Project Manager for our Power & Energy Management Team. The successful candidate will manage technical, schedules, quality, and financial aspects of Power and Energy Transmission Line projects, develop client relationships, and market WSP’s Power Delivery services, particularly in the South and Southwest Region. This position is based in Houston, TX, Austin, TX, or Fort Worth, TX, with remote work flexibility and periodic travel to WSP or client offices.
Responsibilities
- Provide project management for high voltage and EHV Transmission Line projects, ensuring adherence to project lifecycle phases (proposal, planning, execution, reporting, and closeout).
- Oversee project detailed design, budgets, forecasts, margins, and KPIs, monitor risks, and manage contractual obligations.
- Develop strategies to engage stakeholders, maintain relationships, and report on project progress.
- Guide pursuit/initiation activities, including "Go / No-Go" decisions, contract reviews, and risk mitigation.
- Lead contract negotiations and client presentations as needed.
- Drive technical reviews, select qualified staff, and ensure adherence to QA/QC plans.
- Provide strategic advice to clients and manage assigned staff performance.
- Update project documentation (Risk, PMP, QP, PSP, Communications Plan) and lead project kick-off meetings.
- Coordinate resource and subcontracting requirements, maintain client communications, and oversee problem project reviews.
- Ensure regular project reporting and complete formal project closeout activities, including lessons-learned meetings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide trusted advisor services and future-ready solutions.
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field within the Power & Energy Market.
- 12+ years of post-education experience in project management within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry.
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience working with IOUs, IPPs, Co-Ops, Munis, etc.
- Minimum 5 years leading engineering/construction teams on medium to large electrical utility scale projects for high voltage/EHV transmission lines.
- Knowledge of project management processes and tools, including contract management, earned value management, risk management, and schedule management (e.g., Primavera P6).
- Advanced proficiency in analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate across all levels.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, multitasking ability, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and PM tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to company policies.
- Ability to travel occasionally as required.
