About the role
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to design and oversee transmission line projects from 69kV to 500kV.
Responsibilities
- Designing transmission lines, conducting cost analyses, developing design criteria, and selecting conductors and hardware
- Performing routing, siting, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
- Collaborating with vendors and clients to specify components
- Leading small project teams and mentoring staff
- Developing proposals, cost estimates, and supporting engineering calculations
- Verifying right-of-way requirements, plans, and construction documents
- Using software such as PLS-CADD and ensuring compliance with standards like NESC, IEC, IEEE
- Leading automation efforts, guiding teams in leveraging AI and scripting tools
Qualifications
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 7+ years of relevant experience in transmission line design, project coordination, and documentation
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, MS Office, and knowledge of design codes
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred qualifications
- PE license
- Experience in proposals and scheduling
- Familiarity with additional engineering software
