About the role
The Investments team produces new investments in privately-placed commercial real estate debt and manages these investments throughout their lifecycle. This position supports senior investment team members in sourcing, underwriting, and closing new investments, as well as monitoring performance, processing borrower requests, and developing resolution strategies for troubled assets.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior personnel in analyzing, underwriting, and closing new loan opportunities and refinances, including cash flow modeling and asset valuation.
- Maintain regular contact with loan servicers, borrowers, property-level personnel, outside counsel, and others to monitor the performance of assigned investments and ensure compliance with loan documents.
- Interface with brokers, borrowers, and market participants to stay updated on competitive lending parameters and market conditions.
- Review and understand loan documentation, tenant leases, ground leases, easements, and other documents impacting property cash flow and value; analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements.
- Utilize internal and external tools (e.g., market reports) to process transactions and make informed recommendations.
- Prepare and present recommendations for new investments.
- Conduct regular reviews of existing investments, including periodic re-underwriting, maintaining "watchlists," and supporting investor reporting.
- Identify potential risks in the assigned portfolio and support senior team members in developing mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with brokers, borrowers, counsel, and closing teams to monitor loan closing status and update the pipeline.
- Analyze and coordinate borrower requests, such as future loan draws, lease approvals, collateral releases, and payoffs.
- Monitor loan maturities and identify refinance opportunities or risks.
- Conduct physical inspections of loan collateral and prepare inspection reports.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses as directed by senior personnel.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree with a concentration in real estate, finance, economics, business administration, accounting, urban planning, or mathematics (real estate preferred).
- MBA or completion of a higher-level real estate program preferred but not required.
- 2 to 4 years of related finance and real estate experience.
Skills

Schedule
10%–20% travel may be required.
