About the role

This onsite position is for a Sr. Tool and Gage Maker who will independently perform a variety of tool and gage making functions to support machines and equipment within the business unit and facility. The role operates on 2nd shift with flexibility for training, workflow maintenance, and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Read and work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and piece samples to layout durable tools for machining and/or inspection.
  • Perform machining processes to conduct alterations and repairs on tools, gages, and fixtures.
  • Use and care for basic hand tools and precision measuring equipment to complete complex compound angled set-ups.
  • Perform set-ups safely and proficiently.
  • Fabricate, calibrate, and ensure fixtures and gages (simple and complex) meet specifications.
  • Provide written and verbal technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Pratt & Whitney tool-related procedures.
  • Fabricate and calibrate ID/OD gages for diameter inspection; precisely compute compound angles.
  • Ensure tools are properly identified with tool number, weight, and change letter.
  • Execute SAP transactions thoroughly and accurately.
  • Follow procedures for machine sign-in, clean-up, equipment maintenance, clocking, tooling sign-out, inventory management, and vacation scheduling.
  • Adhere to EHS guidelines and procedures, including proper P.P.E. use, Job Safety Analysis, and co-worker safety.
  • Contribute to ACE initiatives and continuous improvement of work-related functions.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years with a completed certificate or post-secondary degree in a related field.
  • U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
  • Experience working on a HAAS or TRAK milling machine or lathe is a plus.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 5+ years of tool & gage making experience with a completed technical certificate, post-secondary degree, trade, or tool & gage making program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced shop math, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Understanding of machinery, basic hand tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of silver and soft soldering, welding, and heat treat applications.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $29.42–$55.30 per hour. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is onsite and requires commuting to and from the assigned site. Candidates may be asked to attend select interview steps in-person at one of our office locations.
