About the role
As a Senior Thermal Systems Modeling Engineer at Carrier, you will be a key member of the engineering team focused on developing advanced cooling solutions, particularly for data center customers. You will leverage your expertise in thermal systems to design, analyze, and optimize chiller systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will ensure chiller products meet and exceed customer expectations while adhering to industry standards and regulations. A strong understanding of chiller system thermodynamics, heat transfer, pressure vessel design, and refrigerant system performance analysis is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of chiller systems, including component selection, system integration, and performance optimization.
- Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions and environments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product management, engineering, and manufacturing teams, to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
- Support product testing and validation activities, analyzing test results and implementing design improvements as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to early career engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering, applying knowledge to drive innovation and maintain Carrier’s competitive edge.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 7+ years of thermal modeling experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of thermal modeling experience.
- 3+ years of experience with thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer principles, and/or refrigeration cycles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer principles, and refrigeration cycles.
- Proficiency in thermodynamic cycle analysis and modeling using hand-written codes or commercially available software such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Ansys.
- Experience with product development processes, from concept design to production release.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a track record of delivering high-quality results on schedule.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Pay
The annual salary for this position ranges from $79,000.00 to $158,000.00. Factors that may affect pay within this range include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
