About the role

The Territory Account Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our customer model, executing BMS’s aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders (RTLs), community-based physicians/HCPs, office staff, and other stakeholders in the patient care continuum as their primary point of contact. This field-based role prioritizes the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives, exemplifying BMS values. A TAS is anticipated to spend 100% of their time in the field with external customers.

This territory includes: Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, San Fernando Valley, Lancaster, Santa Clarita Valley, Los Angeles, Burbank, Pasadena, and Glendale.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Promotion
    • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
    • Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use of products in appropriate patients.
    • Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
    • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
    • Proactively uses available tools such as CE³ to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans, providing feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue
    • Demonstrates scientific expertise and passion using approved resources and publications to present medically accurate information to HCPs.
    • Conducts in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) discussing product-related scientific information consistent with label.
    • Organizes external speaker programs, selecting speakers from the approved Speakers Bureau and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
    • Maintains expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
    • Engages real-time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Proactively collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
    • Gathers and shares relevant insights and information internally with appropriate stakeholders to enable BMS to better serve its customers.
    • Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or preferred 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians best serve their patients.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network via a customer-centric mindset.
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology required.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals with strong account management and selling competencies.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset and can-do attitude.
  • As this position requires operating a Company-provided vehicle, candidates must meet the requirements of “Qualified Driver,” including:
    • At least 21 years of age.
    • A driver’s license in good standing issued by your state of residence.
    • A driving risk level deemed acceptable by the Company.

Pay

Field - United States - US: $144,500 - $175,100. The starting compensation range is for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate accounts for required skills, job location, work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

      • Summer hours flexibility.
      • Leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs.
      • Annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s Day (for all global full- and part-time employees actively employed at year-end).

Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for U.S. office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Field sales, manufacturing operations, and capability centers may have limited eligibility. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees under collective bargaining agreements should consult their document. Contractors and leased workers are not eligible.
