About the role

The Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our unique customer model, executing Bristol Myers Squibb’s aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders, community-based physicians, office staff, and other stakeholders in the patient care continuum as their primary point of contact. This field-based role spends 100% of time engaging external customers, prioritizing the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Promote approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintain and grow scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas, including emerging data for approved indications.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive territory and account plans, using tools like CE3 to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans.
  • Conduct in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product-related scientific information consistent with label.
  • Organize external speaker programs, selecting approved speakers and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
  • Engage real-time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
  • Collaborate with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs and share relevant insights internally.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced scientific degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and stakeholders through a customer-centric mindset.
  • Experience in Neurology preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and strong account management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive, team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills, with a resourceful approach to customer engagement.

Pay

Starting compensation range for this full-time role in the United States is $139,230 - $168,714. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. Final individual compensation will be determined by demonstrated experience.

This role is open to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers.
