About the role
The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our customer model, executing BMS’s aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders (RTLs), community-based physicians, office staff, and other stakeholders in the patient care continuum. This field-based role prioritizes the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results, performance objectives, and exemplifying BMS values.
Responsibilities
- Promote approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
- Maintain and grow a high level of scientific expertise in assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Develop and implement comprehensive territory and account plans, using tools like SOPHIA to derive insights and inform call plans.
- Provide feedback on tool usage to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Conduct fair and balanced scientific dialogue with HCPs, ensuring medical accuracy and consistency with label.
- Organize in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and external speaker programs, selecting approved speakers and facilitating logistics.
- Maintain expertise on emerging data for approved indications and engage Medical on Call for complex technical inquiries.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance the Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
- Gather and share relevant insights internally to better serve customers.
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies governing conduct.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and stakeholders via a customer-centric mindset.
- Experience in cardiovascular therapeutics preferred.
- Proven track record in account management, superior selling competencies, and meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong selling and promotional skills, with a focus on driving business results.

Pay
The starting compensation range for this full-time role is $124,090 - $150,370. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. Final compensation will be determined by demonstrated experience.
