About the role

As a Senior Technology Product Owner, you will help define the vision of the portfolio and products we create; drive the planning, prioritization, and execution of backlogs; and deliver new features that support our strategic goals. You will coach Technology Product Owners on understanding end-to-end business processes, underlying business capabilities, and related journey maps and strategies that elevate both student and colleague experiences.

You will be expected to understand, assess, and decompose prioritized initiatives into Portfolio and Product roadmaps. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will ensure our planning aligns with overall business goals and objectives, driving focus to maximize value for both colleagues and customers.

You will lead and collaborate with Technology Product Owners, Digital Product Managers, and peer group colleagues, as well as other IT stakeholder groups, to finalize short-, mid-, and long-term initiative and product roadmaps aligned to business priorities and value. This includes assessing available capacity and indicative level of effort to create effectively sequenced and prioritized roadmaps.

Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and service management teams to ensure roadmaps balance scalability, user experience, stability, and performance. You will ensure Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and system enablers are considered, captured, and cascaded to relevant teams.

Define methodology for analyzing and responding to target metrics and value post-delivery, including recommended improvements for use during retrospective sessions, with the goal of driving increased use and adoption.

Nurture and build relationships with senior colleagues across all business functions impacted by the assigned product and initiative portfolio. Use these relationships to collaborate on business outcome alignment, roadmap conceptualization, and prioritization.

Facilitate business process mapping and product mapping work sessions and actively participate in functional and technological changes that enhance the student and colleague experience while enabling business growth and value.

Work in partnership with applicable product vendors to understand vendor product roadmaps and how these can be leveraged to deliver business goals and outcomes. Ensure timely feature/product upgrades while maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. Minimize bespoke customization and influence business process changes to best utilize vendor-supplied products.

Maintain the quality and integrity of all new product introductions and existing product enhancements within technical and team boundaries, identifying and contributing risks and dependencies. Ensure roadmaps reflect any impacts.

Progress all deliverables to “done” status, meeting acceptance criteria by coordinating production deployment, post-implementation analysis/feedback, and ongoing support plans.

Build a peer group Technology Product and Portfolio community, identifying opportunities for learning, development, growth, and advancement. Support and coach Technology Product Owners in establishing their community and identity, offering guidance for their growth journey.

Support the definition of objectives, success metrics, and business outcomes for assigned initiatives and product enhancements. Ensure KPIs and targets are tracked, reported on, and used to identify impediments preventing the realization of defined benefits.

Use approved tools and methodologies to manage workloads, communicate progress, ensure timely completion of deliverables, and maintain accurate and consistent delivery-related metrics for assigned initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
