About the Role
As a Lead Laboratory Technologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Hospital, you will oversee the daily operations of the CLAS (Total Laboratory Automation) and specialty areas of the laboratory. This part-time, weekend day shift position involves maintaining a daily schedule of personnel to ensure all sections of the laboratory are adequately staffed for specimen volume.
Responsibilities
- Oversee or participate in technical operations, including QA/QC checks, system maintenance, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting.
- Oversee laboratory staff in performing qualitative and quantitative test procedures.
- Act as a reference source for technologists in correlating test data.
- Implement solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data.
- Participate in QA/QC concerns related to result data delivery and patient care.
- Participate in the orientation and training of staff.
- Act as the contact person for calls from nursing units and physicians.
- Track and respond to questions relating to testing procedures and results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science.
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education Department.
- 6 years of experience as a Laboratory Technologist (or 4 years with a Master's degree).
- Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP certification.
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology or related science.
- Laboratory supervisory experience.
- Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspections.
Schedule
Part-time day shift position working weekends, with 3 day shifts one weekend and 2 day shifts the next.
Pay
Salary range: $53.15–$66.65 per hour.
