Senior Technologist Laboratory - Transfusion Medicine/Blood Bank - Part Time - Weekend Days

About the Role

As a Lead Laboratory Technologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Hospital, you will oversee the daily operations of the CLAS (Total Laboratory Automation) and specialty areas of the laboratory. This part-time, weekend day shift position involves maintaining a daily schedule of personnel to ensure all sections of the laboratory are adequately staffed for specimen volume.

Responsibilities

• Oversee or participate in technical operations, including QA/QC checks, system maintenance, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting.
• Oversee laboratory staff in performing qualitative and quantitative test procedures.
• Act as a reference source for technologists in correlating test data.
• Implement solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data.
• Participate in QA/QC concerns related to result data delivery and patient care.
• Participate in the orientation and training of staff.
• Act as the contact person for calls from nursing units and physicians.
• Track and respond to questions relating to testing procedures and results.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science.
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education Department.
• 6 years of experience as a Laboratory Technologist (or 4 years with a Master's degree).
• Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP certification.
• Master’s degree in Medical Technology or related science.
• Laboratory supervisory experience.
• Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspections.

Schedule

Part-time day shift position working weekends, with 3 day shifts one weekend and 2 day shifts the next.

Pay

Salary range: $53.15–$66.65 per hour.
