About the role

The Senior Technician, Refrigeration/HVAC, leads and supports HVACR operations by coordinating work assignments, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and maintaining equipment quality standards. This role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and managing resources such as refrigerant and parts inventory. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to implement improvements, provide technical training, and support business objectives.

About the team

The Facilities Management HVACR team oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across Walmart locations. The team ensures adherence to safety and environmental standards while enhancing system reliability and efficiency. Members collaborate to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and manage resources effectively. They provide technical expertise, training, and guidance to uphold high-quality standards and support business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate HVACR teams to meet customer needs and business priorities, ensuring timely and quality work completion.
  • Oversee special projects by evaluating new technologies, identifying improvements, and addressing deficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVACR industry regulations through inspections, repairs, and proper refrigerant handling.
  • Manage HVACR maintenance resources, including refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and supplier relationships.
  • Provide training and hands-on support to technicians, evaluating skills and promoting best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVACR and Energy Management Systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Compile budget reports, manage warranty claims, and develop scopes of work for equipment replacement.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in HVACR systems repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including preventive and corrective actions.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA regulations and compliance related to refrigerant handling and environmental safety.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate work assignments, and manage resources effectively to meet business priorities.
  • Strong skills in conducting inspections, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local HVACR codes.
  • Experience managing budgets, tracking inventory, and developing scopes of work for HVACR projects.
  • Ability to provide technical training and mentorship to technicians, fostering skill development and safety awareness.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Option 1: 10 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
  • Option 2: 8 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and AAS in A/C and Refrigeration.
  • Universal EPA Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science in A/C and refrigeration.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Prior work experience with Glycol and CO2 systems.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
