MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Electronics for Contested Space Group develops advanced electronic systems and technology for the protection of our Nation’s most important space capabilities. We design and develop state-of-the-art satellites and satellite payloads, novel concepts for resilient space architectures, and the Nation’s most sensitive radars, optics, and passive RF systems. The group also provides engineering rigor and experience to some of the most critical National Security programs through Laboratory-wide collaboration and in an advisory capacity to the U.S. Government.

About the role

The Electronics for Contested Space Group is seeking a Senior Technician to work on the prototyping and development of advanced electronics and space payloads and subsystems. Activities will include the fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of RF and electronic hardware from schematics and mechanical drawings. Job functions may also include operation of technical equipment, including laboratory and field data collection under the supervision of scientific personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of multi-conductor and RF cables
  • Building small electronic assemblies
  • Mechanical/electrical assembly, including wiring of devices into chassis assemblies
  • Soldering and de-soldering of boards and terminals

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret Clearance highly desirable
  • Graduation from a two-year technical school or its equivalent and a minimum of five years of applicable experience
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others respectfully and develop productive working relationships
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively for periods of time without supervision
  • Ability to lift light-to-moderate equipment (up to 60 pounds)
  • Clean room assembly experience and experience working with, or certifications in, military and space environmental standards are pluses
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance

Pay

Hiring range: $44.63 - $48.65 per hour. The final salary offered will depend on factors including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, skills and education/training, internal equity considerations, and applicable legal requirements. This range reflects base salary only and does not include additional forms of compensation or benefits.
